Salary cap for Spokane city employees part of budget reforms proposed by Council President

No Spokane city employee could earn more than $182,000 annually under a package of changes to City Hall’s budgeting process being proposed by Council President Ben Stuckart. “We’re not the private sector, we’re the public sector,” said Stuckart, who doesn’t expect a vote on the measure until next month at the earliest.

Arsonist leaves behind graffiti at Bremerton home

No one was home when a fire started in the Bremerton home. The blaze, investigators believe, was intentionally set. The woman who lives there was out of town at a funeral. Firefighters found flames coming through the roof. And a fire marshal believes the blaze, which started in the kitchen, was arson.

Crews work to secure leaning scaffolding on downtown Seattle building

Crews worked to secure a tall section of leaning scaffolding that somehow broke loose from the side of a building under construction in downtown Seattle Monday evening. Seattle Police and Seattle Fire were called to the scene at Howell Street and Minor Ave. just before 5 p.m. The scaffolding could be seen slightly leaning away from the building.

21 Apr 2018 EVIP 2.1 Regional Training - Kalispel Tribal Fire Department 4/21/2018 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

The Washington Fire Chiefs and WFC Fire Training, Safety & Officers Section are proud to announce that the new Emergency Vehicle Incident Prevention (EVIP) program is approved and in motion! After a laborious update process the new program has been approved by the State Department of Licensing and the Washington State Patrol, Fire Protection Bureau. 

The new program now has a trainer re-certification policy that requires trainers to have a Train-the-Trainer (T-t-T) refresher course every 5 years. Those who have been trainers under previous EVIP standards will still need to receive this most current T-t-T course and use the current course materials to remain a certified EVIP trainer.

Locations Currently Scheduled:

April 21, 2018, 8am-4pm - Kalispel Tribal Fire Department (3292 LeClerk Road N, Usk, Washington) 

All classes will run 8am-5pm and lunch will not be provided.

As part of the T-t-T course students will receive the newest EVIP program disc and all needed materials to bring the EVIP program back to their departments for immediate implementation.
