Crews attack early morning fire at Seattle's Beacon Hill apartments

A two-alarm fire at an apartment building in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood sent residents fleeing into the subfreezing cold early Friday. Crews responded to the scene, in the 1700 block of 17th Avenue South, at about 5:15 a.m. after receiving reports of smoke and flames. Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control by 6 a.

Spokane: One dead in apartment fire near Liberty Park

An adult woman died early Friday morning in a fire at the Liberty Park Terrace Apartments on the lower South Hill. Spokane firefighters were called to the scene at 2 a.m. near Perry Street and Hartson Avenue. Upon arrival, they observed smoke coming from the second floor of an apartment building, according to Spokane Fire Department release.

Benton Co. Fire District #1's female firefighters are proud to inspire

Small. Dangerous. Weak. These are all things some might say to describe why women shouldn't be firefighters. But the women of Benton County Fire District #1 are here to bust those stereotypes. Meet Lt. Tracy Baker, Yvette Sanders, Masha Sells, and Kayte Salter. Each one of them joined the department for different reasons, but one thing was the same: they wanted to do their part for the community.
