Firefighters called to blaze near Yakima Training Center

Firefighters from Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue, Yakima Fire, Naches Fire and the training center are fighting a blaze north of Cold Creek. It started Thursday night and last reports say it is around 8,000 acres. According to a Facebook post on Washington State Fire Wire, it is burning on the south side section of the Yakima Training Center and no structures are threatened.

Firefighter Saves His Own Family From Bofer Canyon Fire

It's been almost a week since the devastating Bofer Canyon Fire that ripped through South Kennewick, burning down five homes. Action News spoke with one of the families that escaped within minutes of the flames consuming their home, thanks to an off-duty firefighter, who also happened to be the family's son.

Benton County firefighters dive into action in the Yakima River for rescue training

Typically, firefighters have to wait for a certified technician to start a swift water rescue. After today, eight firefighters from Benton County Fire District 4 will be certified with another eight coming in September. Prior to the training, if a person was struggling in the water, a firefighter could only put on a life vest and throw a rope bag to the victim legally.
