Bio: Chief Scoggins has more than 30 years of experience in the fire service. He started his firefighting career as a member of the United States Air Force where he served as a firefighter from 1984 to 1989. In 1989, Chief Scoggins joined the Glendale Fire Department where he advanced through the ranks serving as Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, Deputy Chief and in 2008 being named as Fire Chief.

In April 2015, Chief Scoggins became the Chief of the Seattle Fire Department.  Chief Scoggins oversees a workforce of more than 1000 uniform and civilian members who respond to over 90,000 emergencies runs a year while serving a population of nearly 650,000 residents. Under Chief Scoggins, the department is organized into four divisions: Administration, Fire Prevention, Operations and Resource Management.

Chief Scoggins is involved in several community organizations such as: a member of the WA Board Advisors for the American Cancer Society, serves as an Ambassador for the King County Boys & Girls Clubs, a member of Seattle #4 Rotary Club, serves as Vice President of the King County Fire Chiefs Association, and volunteers as a youth football coach. 

Chief Scoggins has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration received from Cal State University Long Beach and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Cal State University Los Angeles.  He also has an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Technology from Glendale Community College. Chief Scoggins also has numerous professional certificates and has completed many State Fire Marshal training courses.

Harold is married to his beautiful wife Abigail and has a son Anthony, 28, a daughter Jasmine, 25, a daughter Nicole, 16, and a son Isaiah, 14.
